This year's meeting drew on recommendations of the ASCO Academic Global Oncology Task Force, with participants discussing global oncology training, research, professional development, and partnerships.

SPR 2021 Annual Meeting: Addressing Racism and Disparities when Considering Biology and Context Poster Presentation
NCI's Linsey Eldridge and Dr. David Berrigan presented their poster, "Structural Racism and Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Among Black and White Women in the United States" at the Society for Prevention Research annual meeting. Ms. Eldridge is from NCI's Center for Global Health and Dr. Berrigan is from NCI's Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences.

Breast Cancer Survival in Sub-Saharan Africa Global Cancer Research and Control Seminar Series
Epidemiologists Valerie McCormack, Ph.D. and Steady Chasimpha, MSc presented their research focused mostly on cancer epidemiology in sub-Saharan Africa, including on cancers contributing to excessive premature mortality in the region. This work included contextual studies of the reasons for low breast cancer survival as well as etiological research on esophageal cancer.

Ireland-Northern Ireland-US National Cancer Institute Cancer Consortium MoU Signing
The National Cancer Institute joined the governments of Ireland and Northern Ireland to strengthen cancer research, control, and training collaborations through the re-signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the Ireland-Northern Ireland-NCI Cancer Consortium. In addition to the signing of the MOU, the virtual event included discussion from cancer patients and experts on cancer care in Ireland.
