  • Cancer Discovery Symposium: Reducing the Global Cancer Burden

    To mark World Cancer Research Day, Cancer Discovery will convene leading thinkers who are working to reduce cancer deaths globally and in their respective regions. This event aims to explore the unique challenges in different regions to identify areas that need more coordinated attention and to promote greater awareness within the global cancer research community. A live panel will facilitate discussions on how international efforts to understand and combat cancer can potentially be integrated for maximum impact. Dr. Satish Gopal will present "Efforts to Reduce Cancer Burden Globally at the US National Cancer Institute" and participate in the panel discussion. Audience participation is welcome during the panel discussion.

  • Embracing the Complexity: Transdisciplinary Approaches to Advance the Science of Cancer Health Disparities

    NCI will host a series of three virtual interactive workshops designed to broadly engage a diverse community in interactive discussions to brainstorm and share new ideas and research approaches to address the complexities and advance the science of cancer health disparities (CHD) that cut across disciplines. Participants will identify unique research opportunities, and collaboratively examine approaches that cut across disciplines to advance sustainable solutions to reduce cancer health disparities and accelerate progress towards equity in cancer control for all populations. Registration is free and open.

  • Covid-19's Enduring Impact on Global Cancer Prevention and Control: Lessons Learned and Next Steps

    This virtual mini symposium will highlight CGH's funded studies seeking to contribute to understanding the impact of COVID-19 on global cancer prevention and control, including the direct effects of COVID-19 in cancer patients or the indirect health, economic, and sociocultural impacts of the pandemic across the cancer continuum.

  • International Cancer Screening Network (ICSN) Meeting

    ICSN will host its network meeting in Turin, Italy, on June 21-23, 2023. With the theme, 'Cancer Screening: In the Present, the Future,' the meeting will have session topics dedicated to equity in cancer screening, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on screening, integration of primary and secondary prevention, new emerging screening programs, among others. The call for abstracts is open from January 18 to March 6, 2023.

    This is a pre-application webinar for the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), RFA-CA-24-005, Cancer Prevention, Detection, Diagnosis, and Treatment Technologies. NCI program staff will provide an overview of the funding initiative and answer questions from potential applicants. Participation in the webinar, although encouraged, is optional and is not required for the submission of an application in response to this NOFO.

    The 11th Annual Symposium on Global Cancer Research (ASGCR) will be held virtually April 4, – April 6, 2023. The theme of the Symposium is “Closing the Research-to-Implementation Gap” and the objectives of this virtual Symposium are to: (1) provide a venue for the global oncology research community to exchange information and identify potential areas for collaboration; (2) develop strategic priorities for advancing the field of global oncology; (3) share initiatives that are reducing the burden of cancer in low resource settings; and 4) create opportunities for researchers and program implementers from low resource settings to present their work.
