Global Review of National Cancer Control Plans Highlights Progress and Opportunities of National Cancer StrategiesFor the first time since 2018, the International Cancer Control Partnership has conducted a global review of 156 national cancer control plans to better understand the current landscape of cancer control strategies. This review reveals progress in national cancer strategies and highlights persistent gaps in funding, equity, and the integration of evidence-based interventions.

US and Korea Commit to International Collaboration for Cancer Research and ControlOn November 19, 2024, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Kimryn Rathmell, Director of the U.S. National Cancer Institute and Dr. Seogyoun Kang, Director General of the Republic of Korea National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation.

Launch of the WHO Collaborating Center for Global Cancer ControlOn June 18, 2024, the Center for Global Health welcomed a World Health Organization delegation to the National Cancer Institute for the launch of the third re-designation of the NCI WHO Collaborating Center for Global Cancer Control, renewing the efforts of an eight year partnership with WHO.

The Consortium is a unique partnership, established in 1999, between the governments of Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the United States, as a direct result of the Good Friday Agreement.

US-Sweden Cancer Summit - Bridging the Research to Implementation GapOn March 13, 2024 the United States and Sweden signed an Implementing Arrangement for Cooperation on Cancer at the House of Sweden in Washington, D.C. Following the signing the Swedish Embassy and the NCI hosted the US-Sweden Cancer Summit to explore and discuss the benefits of international collaborations in cancer research and implementation science.

We're Hiring an Implementation Science Program Director!The Center for Global Health (CGH) is hiring a program director focused on implementation science and global cancer control. CGH supports multiple initiatives to accelerate the implementation of evidence-based cancer control and prevention interventions in low- and middle-income countries. These initiatives are grounded in bi-directional learning, mutual capacity building, and exploration of new models of implementation research which are closely embedded in the implementation practice space.

NCI Hosts Kenya Cancer Care-Focused International Visitor Leadership ProgramOn December 4-5, NCI hosted a team of ten Kenyan cancer care experts and a Member of Parliament as part of a unique cancer care-focused International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) visit. This visit is jointly sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya.

CGH Launches Survey to Better Understand Cancer Therapeutic Clinical Trials in Low- and Middle-Income CountriesNCI's Center for Global Health (CGH) has launched a survey to better understand the landscape of cancer therapeutic clinical trials in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). CGH is seeking clinicians with experience participating as a member of a research team in at least one cancer therapeutic clinical trial with a recruitment site or facility in a LMIC (as defined by the World Bank) to better understand the landscape of cancer, to the take survey.
