Global Review of National Cancer Control Plans Highlights Progress and Opportunities of National Cancer Strategies
In 2023, the International Cancer Control Partnership (ICCP) conducted a global review of 156 national cancer control plans (NCCPs) to better understand the current landscape of cancer control strategies, across countries with varying levels of income. Vital to reducing the global burden of cancer, NCCPs address cancer risk factors, access to screening, and workforce training. ICCP’s last global review was conducted in 2018. However, as cancer research, treatments, and policies have changed worldwide, up-to-date information on the status and content of NCCPs was needed – particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more about the highlights and key findings of ICCP's global review, “The changing global landscape of national cancer control plans,” out now in The Lancet Oncology.
ICCP brings together organizations to coordinate efforts in support of countries as they develop and implement evidence-based NCCPs. ICCP is co-convened by the NCI Center for Global Health and the Union for International Cancer Control.
