Leshia Hansen, R.N., M.P.H.

Planning and Evaluation Officer

Leshia Hansen, R.N., M.P.H., joined the Center for Global Health (CGH) in 2023 where she serves as the Center-wide Strategic Planning and Evaluation Officer. In this role she collaborates across the Center to lead the evaluation of CGH’s first 5-year strategic plan and also supports CGH’s comprehensive evaluation strategy. In addition, Leshia coordinates the ongoing strategic planning and prioritization efforts for the Center.

Ms. Hansen joined the NCI in 2017 as a Cancer Screening and Prevention Technical Information Specialist with the PDQ Cancer Information Branch in the Office of Communication and Public Liaison. In this role she managed a board of experts in the review of the latest scientific research and the development of public education materials available on the enterprise website, for both health professional and general audiences. Leshia has collaborated on numerous global cancer control efforts with a variety of international organizations. Leshia is a registered nurse and prior to joining NCI, she worked in Washington D.C. as an oncology nurse, a nurse navigator, and a community health nurse. She also served with the Peace Corps in Cambodia as a community health educator.

Ms. Hansen received her Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in global health from the George Washington University, her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Creighton University, and both a Bachelor of Science in life science-biology and Bachelor of Arts in social science-anthropology from Kansas State University. Leshia is currently a Doctor of Public Health student at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health studying implementation science and global cancer control.
