The HIV+ Tumor Molecular Characterization Project (H+TMCP) is a new initiative with the goal of understanding the effect of HIV infection on the development of certain cancers. Center for Cancer Genomics scientific leader Dr. Daniela Gerhard remarks on the opportunities addressed by this program and the general need for progress on HIV research.

New Program Highlights: The CTD² Network and CGCI
CCG manages many programs aiming to enhance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of cancer. The Cancer Target Discovery and Development (CTD2) Network is a new initiative tasked to bridge the gap between cancer genomics and precision oncology and the Cancer Genomic Characterization Initiative (CGCI) focuses on characterizing pediatric and rare adult cancers. In 2010, these programs were managed by CCG's then Office of Cancer Genomics.

Recovery Act Funds Accelerate Cancer Genomics Research
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has invested a significant portion of its American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds in existing cancer genomics research programs, including The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)
