Psychosocial Symptom Management Intervention for the Improvement in Quality of Life During Treatment for Pancreatic Cancer
This clinical trial tests designs and evaluates the psychosocial symptoms management intervention (PSMI) for relieving the stress of patients undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer. Patients and families experience significant physical and emotional burdens from treatment including surgery and chemotherapy. Fear and anxiety can get increasingly more severe throughout therapy and these symptoms are often overlooked. Physical along and emotional symptoms both have an effect on quality of life. Patients may benefit from behavioral therapy to manage symptoms including physical and emotional well-being. Behavioral interventions use techniques to help patients change the way they react to environmental triggers that may cause a negative reaction. PSMI is an interactive online- based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that focuses on self-management of general CBT and implementation of CBT during chemo before surgery (neoadjuvant) and after surgery. Using PSMI may improve quality of life in pancreatic patients during treatment.
